I'm kind of ok today. Last night was the second time I took 500MG of Niacin. Since I've got some heart problems and my cholesterol is bad, they decided to try this in addition to the other meds.
Last night things got bad for me. Difficulty breathing, skin on fire, but no sweat. I let my wife, Nancy know (she was sleeping and it was around midnight). I drove to the VA hospital ER (about 2 miles away). Damn roads were icy as hell.
My skin felt burned and then it got swollen. I could watch the progression of red from my chest all the way down to my fingertips. Scary.
I don't remember what shot they gave me, but it felt like a bullet going in. They gave me 3 pills, after the shot, but I don't remember what they were. I was given a Benedryl pill to take when I got home.
I have to see my primary care doctor. I still feel bad, but at least I'm not on fire. My BP went back up to normal, it was low in the ER, and my temperature went back to normal (for me 95/6 degrees).
Just letting you know in case this is prescribed to you.

I wasn't looking for LV. Thanks. I still feel wiped out. I'm sorry for your recent troubles. Hopefully things will just get better for you.
So many new people here. I mainly lurk on the dark side, but I don't really come here often.

dude, Niacin causes that side effect. especially that burning stuff. I used to take vitamins and it was in them and had the same symtoms. It was the niacin. the burning sensation seems to be the most common reation. Myself, I wont take niacin.
sorry late on this, been a little down and not on the pc for a day or two
